John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship *OPEN*
National Sea Grant College Federal Fellows Program, was established in 1979 to provide a unique educational experience to students who have an interest in marine/ocean/Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. It is open to all students enrolled in a graduate or professional program in a marine- or aquatic-related field at a U.S.–accredited institution of higher learning. The fellowship allows students to share their expertise with policy makers in Washington, D.C., and provides a first-hand look at how science is used in the policy arena and how decisions are made.

    programs. Applications from prospective fellows to the State Sea Grant College
    Programs (SGCP) are due February 19, 2010.

National Marine Fisheries Service - Sea Grant Joint Graduate Fellowship Program in Population Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics *OPEN*
The NMFS - Sea Grant Joint Graduate Fellowship Program in Population Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics is designed to help Sea Grant fulfill its broad educational responsibilities and to strengthen the collaboration between Sea Grant and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).The Fisheries Fellowship is available to US citizens who are graduate students enrolled in PhD degree programs in academic institutions in the United States and its territories. Sea Grant and NMFS, with required institutional matching funds, expect to support at least four new Fisheries Fellows in Population Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics in FY 2010.  Fisheries Fellows will work on thesis problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS and have summer internships at participating NMFS Science Centers or Laboratories under the guidance of NMFS mentors.   • Applicants should contact a local state Sea Grant program for application assistance. You’ll be asked to provide the program with the needed application material (see Federal Funing Opportunity for details) and then let the program submit the application to the Federal grant system.

2010 Sea Grant/Regional Team Climate Engagement *CLOSED*
For FY10, the NOAA National Sea Grant College Program and Office of Program Planning and Integration anticipate making available up to $200,000 to support projects that advance priority climate engagement strategies throughout NOAA. The climate engagement mini-grants will be awarded only to proposals endorsed jointly by the NOAA Regional Collaboration Team Lead and the Sea Grant Liaison to the NOAA Regional Collaboration Team (selected among the Sea Grant Directors programs in the region). Awards will be made as interoffice transfers to NOAA entities and cooperative agreements to non-Federal entities, or a combination of interoffice transfers and cooperative agreements for projects that support both NOAA and non-Federal entities. Although other federal, state, tribal, Native Hawaiian, other native cultures, academic and non-profit or non-governmental organizations can act as partners, the Project PI of the grant must be a NOAA Federal employee or a Sea Grant employee. Requests for individual projects may not exceed $25,000. Up to eight mini-grants of up to $25,000 are expected to be awarded through a competitive process, subject to the availability of funds.
