Connecticut
Sea Grant
- Tessa L. Getchis received the
Northeast Extension Directors' Award of Excellence for
2006 for her program entitled "Partnering to Streamline
the Marine Aquaculture Permitting Process."
Florida Sea Grant
- Extension agent, Chuck Adams received
the Wachovia Professorship Award for distinguished service.
Louisiana Sea Grant
- The program was honored by NOAA for the outstanding
work of the volunteers, leadership, and collaboration
with the Louisiana Coastal Conservation Association
and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
in the planning and implementation of the Calcasieu
Lake Marine Debris Surveying, Marking, Mapping, and
Removal Project.
Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant
- The program received first place
in radio public service announcements (from more than
1,500 entries) by Clear Channel Radio stations for its
marine debris public service announcement.
New Jersey Sea Grant
- The program received the 2006
Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award, (recognizing
outstanding environmental performance, programs and
projects) in the Healthy Ecosystem Award category for
its Habitat Initiative.
North Carolina Sea Grant, Georgia
Sea Grant, Association of Zoos and Aquariums, North Carolina
Aquariums, University of Georgia Marine Extension Service
- These programs received
the Coastal America Partnership Award for the "Aquatic
Invaders" project, presented by Timothy R.E. Keeney,
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere,
U.S. Department of Commerce.
North Carolina Sea Grant
- The program received two communications
awards from the N.C. Association of Government Information
Officers: Coastwatch took first place
for regular publications.
- Communicator, Ann Green
won honorable mention for her Coastwatch story
on harbor pilots.
Ohio Sea Grant
Director Jeff Reuter was appointed
to the following:
- ORRAP Education Working Group;
- ORRAP Research to Applications
Working Group;
- NOAA Science Advisory Board Extension,
Outreach, and Education Working Group; and,
- Great Lakes Regional Research
Information Network (GLRRIN). Reutter is one of the
four co-leaders from Lake Erie and was elected be one
of the four leaders for the region.
Pennsylvania Sea Grant
- The program received several Coastal
Zone awards for work at Presque Isle and with habitat
restoration
Rhode Island Sea Grant
- Staff efforts led to unanimous
passage of the Metro Bay Urban Coastal Greenway Policy
Metro Bay Urban Coastal Greenway Policy (UCG).
