I would like to thank members of the network for providing input last week into requirements for a national information system. We received a number of thoughtful, high-level recommendations. In addition, members of the Network Advisory Council (NAC) or their designees participated in a focus group via teleconference on Wednesday in order to provide further input. Our contractor, Rupa Suchak (2020 LLC) is working to gather this input in order to develop a set of requirements for either enhancements to the current National Information Management System (NIMS) or a new system. A primary objective for the system will be ease of use. Stay tuned for more.NOAA Research Welcomes New Public Affairs Specialist
Starting on August 10th, Linda Joy will join the NOAA Research staff as a public affairs specialist. Joy will represent Sea Grant and several other extramural programs. She has worked as a public affairs specialist since 2008 with the National Weather Service. Joy brings a strong background in science writing from her previous positions at the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. As a former daily newspaper reporter for The Frederick Post, Joy understands deadlines. Winner of the 2008 NIH Plan Language Award, gold level, along with many other awards and honors for her public affairs work, Linda Joy (Linda.Joy@noaa.gov)will be a strong addition to Sea Grant and to the NOAA Communications effort. Please read on for:
